"María Isabel Verdú Rollán was born in Madrid in 1970. From a very young age, she was a model in advertisements. Her introduction to television came with “El crimen del capitán Sánchez”, chapter of the series “La huella del crimen”, directed by Vicente Aranda. At just 15, she made her film debut with “El sueño de Tánger” by Ricardo Franco. In 1991 she works in the film “Amantes”, again with Vicente Aranda. This film was the dividing line of her career. In 1992 she acts in “Belle Epoque”, winner of an Oscar. She has worked under the orders of leading directors, both Spanish and foreign, such as Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón or Francis Ford Coppola. In 2007 she won the Goya for Best Actress for her role in “Siete mesas de billar francés”."
